Rotarians Raise Money For Haiti Earthquake Victims

Canadians have really stepped up in the past week and have donated a lot of money to the Red Cross to help the people of Haiti through this tragedy. The Canadian Government said they would match donations up to $50 million and we are half way to that goal in a week’s time. Way to go Canada!
As expected, Kingstonians are doing their part also. The Rotary Club of Kingston is raising money for their Shelter Box program where they send shelter kits to areas that are hit by natural disasters. A Shelter Box is a large plastic container the size of a clothing trunk. Each box contains a sturdy tent that can accommodate 10 people, 10 sleeping bags, cooking tools and some other small items. In four days they have collected $5,000 which is enough to ship five kits to Haiti.
Thank you Rotarians and thanks to the people donating money to the Haitian cause! To find out more about the Shelter Box program and how you can donate, please visit The Kingston Rotary Club.
