The Queen’s Centre Is Now Open!

Well it’s official, The Queen’s Centre is open for business! There was music, dancing and university dignitaries to help kick-off the event and if all goes according to plan, this new facility will be at the center of attention in Kingston’s athletic community.
Here are a few facts about the new Queen’s Centre:
- The building cost $169 million to build
- The main gym seats 1,904 spectators for a basketball game and 3,000 for speaking engagements
- It has a 38m x 25m pool (12 lanes) and seating for 150 spectators
- 8 international squash courts with viewing area
- 5 dedicated fitness and weight areas
- Fireside lounge, food court, retail space and many more features
If you haven’t seen the facility, you should really take a drive down and see if you can arrange a tour. This kind of building can help attract new students and major sporting events to Ktown. I wish Queen’s the best of luck with it and look forward to watching the Gaels compete there in the coming years!
If you are a basketball fan, be sure to checkout the first doubleheader on January 30th when the Laurentian Voyageurs come to the Queen’s Centre.
